Dear VBNF Members and Colleagues:

Greetings to You all.

The Vancouver weather has been great in compare with the rest of the world. Many others are suffering from the snow storms, especially in China and our East coast. Although our weather is clear and dry, we are running into the FLU season and this is a very bad one. Many of us were sick for a while. Sometimes, the whole family gets sick all together. While some of the doctors may say this is a common thing and there is not much they can do, you can ask them to check to see if you need Antibiotic to strengthen your body. Take Tylenol for your sore throat, Contact-C for your runny nose and use Salt water to cleanse your throat. Of course, take some vitamin C and drink lots of hot lemon honey tea. All that works for me for my life time. I have not had a bad flu like this one for over 35 years. So take care of yourself and dress warm.

Our Last Event

We have celebrated the Chinese New Year with a joint meeting with Adnet in Richmond last month. Over 80 people attended the dinner meeting and many guests enjoyed winning door prizes from our sponsors. The Grand prize winner was Terence Tsang, a certified Accountant who can help you save your tax dollar. You will be hearing from him more when he starts to do seminars at the meeting. We will schedule a number of topics on Business, Investment and saving.

Some of our members started to learn about the Real Estate market in Canada, especially in BC and Alberta as well as some other hot cities like Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg where the Real Estate value grow by more than 10% per year and the Rental is great. Other people considered to do land banking for their RRSP dollars to reduce the Tax. We will discuss and analyze the Pros and Cons so to help our members make a better decision on their investment strategies.

The Real Estate market is doing well in Canada in the midst of the subprime problem in the States. This is because Canada is enjoying the strong economic growth with all the hot items like Oil and Gas, and mines. This will help Canada stay well for the next few years ahead of the States.

VBNF has bought a few high rise apartments in the last few months and expect to make quick return once they are completed in a month or two as we were able to find properties at below the market value. There are many tricks to find the properties if you spend enough time to research and learn how to negotiate with e vendors or the sellers. We also have a team of real estate experts who will help you to lower your costs on Lawyer fees, Mortgage, appraisal, property management and renovation. If you are interested to learn more or want to get involved, please contact us directly at 604-422-8878. Yes, we were very busy lately dealing with the new purchases.

MABC Chinese New Year Party

Thanks to Philip Woo and Gina Hanson of the MABC Association for organizing a great dinner and dancing party last month and some of the VBNF members went to the party and had a great time. One of our member, Lisa Sam, an excellent financial planner from the World Financial Group, was so hot that she won two prices in one event. What a lucky lady!
