We all know that before Internet becomes popular in the early 90s, most the marketing tools were printed matters such as newspaper, brochure, banners, posters, signage, magazines, flyers or TV commercials or Radio commercials. As we were not the experts in TV or Radio broadcasting, we will tell you what we know about Marketing with Printed Matters.
Traditional Marketing uses printed matters to promote their business, they could be:
- Logo
- Business Cards
- Stationeries and Letterheads
- Flyers
- Slogan
- Trademark
- Brochures
- Signage
- Advertisement on Newspaper and Magazines
- Etc.,
Dress for Success
Individuals who want to save money can easily design many of the above without any designing or technical background. However, the result is as expected, not doing well. The reasons are simple. They were not designed properly to present their company and its business. Many times, the information was not complete and was not easily found. All these printed matters should be done with extreme care. Since these are the first things your customers see without knowing you or your business, a poor design and rough work gives your customer a poor impression of you and your company from its quality and presentation.
Would you give your business to companies who do not even pay attention to their own look and identity? I wouldn’t.
1.1 What is a Logo?
A LOGO is the identity of the company that reflects its product, service, employees and reputation. It should be creative and professional that can represent the high quality and business the company is involved. Through the shape, color and font type of the LOGO, your company will be an easy to remember and trend setting the brand name for years to come.
Almost everybody knows about Logos, Business cards, brochures and other printed matters. However, not so many people know what to look for and how important and effective they are to their business. This tutorial will help new business owners to learn the details of what to look for from a graphic designer for all their printed matters for Marketing and Promotions.
Large corporations spend millions of dollars to have advertising agencies design their logo. All their stationeries and advertisement will have their logo included as the main corporate identity. A good logo can signify a good start of a company that is going to last for a long, long time.
1.1.1 What is a good Logo?
A good logo should be simple, eye-catching, easy to remember and nice to look at with meanings related to the business. It is something to help your customers remember you and your business. The color and fonts are appropriate to the theme of your business. It is not easy to describe, but when you see a good design, you will know. A good Logo designer will consider the following items before they come up with the design.
Your company name
Your mission statement
Your business philosophy, product and services
Your target customers
The composition of your company
The color you may like to use and the color and fonts that were used in the industry your company is in.
Good examples are: McDonald, Nike, Kodak, Coke, AT&T and many others.
If the designer you choose do not ask you for the above information for the design, they are not someone you should use even it is free. A bad design can ruin your company image because it delivers a poor image of you and your business.
