VBNF celebrated our annual Board of Directors meeting on Jan 24 at the Van Cheong Tea Palace in Richmond’s Aberdeen Centre. Asian Pulse TV was there to interview every one of us and showcased some of the great Chinese dishes from Taiwan. Thanks to the owner, Miss Shu-Mei Chang for the hospitality. Chinese celebrates their New Year over a two weeks period. In Vancouver, many banquets were held by many business groups and VBNF are there to sponsor or participate at the event. We went to a 1,000 people banquet last night at the Floata Seafood Restaurant on Keefer Street. You may see many beautiful people there. Please check our website out to see us in action. Photos from the event will be uploaded in the next few days. We were having fun. Many of our members were there and we were making connections.

Chinese food is very much different from different regions because of their living habits and geographical resources. Cantonese loves seafood like live fish, Crab, Prawns, Lobsters and shell fish. Northern Chinese enjoys more meat and strong taste in the sauces. Taiwanese is mixed as many of them come from both South and North of China.

Van Cheong Tea Palace is just like that with another specialty, TEA. Taiwan is very famous in growing Green tea as well as Red tea. Drinking Tea is an Art and there is specific way of making the tea depending what kind of tea they are. VBNF – International chapter is made to provide business bridging between Canada and the world. We are there to help business people source business partners and resources. • 2010 Procurement Workshop Date Changed to co-host with Canada Export Centre
VBNF decides to postpone the 2010 Procurement workshop from Feb 1 to Feb 15 in conjunction with Canada Export Centre who will invite their guests to join the workshop. This gives our members more time to schedule from the short notice we had earlier. Registered parties please contact Alex to confirm their attendance of the Feb 15. With the involvement with the Canada Export Centre, we will have a great opportunity to network with their guests and build a greater network of alliances. Please register early to reserve your seat. Refreshments will be served during break time.

Guests at the workshop are also welcomed to stay for the VBNF networking event for FREE, starting at 6:00 p.m. Our sponsor, Domino Pizza by Kyle Sampson will serve us with their delicious pizza at the meeting. RSVP is required.

• UsedVancouver.com comes to VBNF – Burnaby meeting on Feb 8
We enjoyed Used Vancouver’s presentation so much that we want to bring them to the Burnaby chapter. Come learn about some of the exciting ideas on Marketing and free advertising. Better yet, come and receive a free umbrella from them. A $20 value automatic umbrella for you and whoever you may want to bring to the meeting. RSVP is required. Admission is $5 for members and $15 for non-members.

• VBNF Goes to Jobline Canada Business Network and Tradeshow on Feb 10
Jobline Canada is one of our Strategic Alliance. They are holding their first Business Network and Tradeshow on Feb 10. Hundreds of guests will be attending the event at the Metrotown Hilton from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Come visit us at our booth. Our directors will be there to help you learn about VBNF and our membership program. Make sure you bring many business cards.

• VBNF Sponsors Chinese New Year Party at Canada Export Centre on Feb 10
VBNF is a proud sponsor for the Chinese New Year Party at Canada Export Centre on Feb 10. This is a special event hosted by the Canada Export Centre and we only have a limited number of tickets for our special guests. However, some of the selected members will be there to help out at the party. We will also provide some entertainment and Chinese Name Translation at the party. A mini Chinese Fortune poster will be made with our logos on it. Interested parties, who would like to have your business logo or name shown on the poster, please contact Alex ASAP. Cut off date will be Feb 2, 2006 so we can finalize the design and get the print on time. Costs will be about $100 each.
